The politics of immigration reform are becoming increasingly important in the struggle for progressive, social, and economic change. At our Annual Conference in November, an exciting new circle emerged to learn more about immigration issues in the United States. Please join our new and very active Immigration Education Circle, along with the PPI Circle and the Racial Justice Working Group, for this timely conversation. This education call will focus on a dynamic campaign developed by progressive social justice, labor, and immigrant rights organization called the Campaign to Reform Immigration FOR America. This national campaign is mobilizing to pass immigration reform in 2010.  During this call, we will explore immigration from multiple angles--from the history of immigration policy to its current legislative path. We will share information about the national political landscape and the concerns of the electorate. And we will draw on the expertise of three activists in the field regarding the ways in which national campaigns are linking up with grassroots organizations to maximize their effectiveness. Most importantly, we will learn about critical action steps being taken, as part of this Campaign, to push for the passage of a comprehensive immigration reform policy.
