The Women Donors Network’s Earth Circle and Racial Justice Working Group presents:

Everybody’s Movement: Environmental Justice and Climate Change

The Environmental Support Center (ESC) released this important report at the end of 2009. Environmental justice focuses on both the degradation of nature and the degradation of communities, especially communities of color, women and low-income people. It links the abuse of the environment with the structural oppression of people with the least power and most impacted by these environmental abuses. Please join us on this call to learn more about the origins of the environmental justice movement, its relationship with the environmental movement, and new developments in environmental justice organizing.

We are truly privileged to be joined by Judy Hatcher, ESC’s Executive Director and long-time environmental justice activist, and Robby Rodriguez, Executive Director of the SouthWest Organizing Project, a leader in the environmental justice movement. They will discuss the critical connection between the environmental justice movement and climate change and why this is and should be everybody’s movement.
