Friday
- Keynote speaker Sarah Weddington, the attorney and professor who, at the young age of 27, successfully represented “Jane Roe” in the landmark Roe v. Wade Supreme Court case.
- Visits to the community and small group discussions with women activists who have assumed leadership roles in the post-floods community transformation process.
- Popcorn and movie night featuring a showing of the film Beautiful Daughters
Saturday
- Panelist Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw, the Executive Director of the African American Policy Forum and professor of law at UCLA and Columbia law schools.
- Panelist Susan Sturm, professor of law at Columbia Law School and a founding co-director of the Center for Institutional and Social Change at Columbia.
- Panelist and moderator Carol Jenkins, writer, media analyst, and media consultant who she served as the founding president of the Women’s Media Center.
- A Saturday night dance party with Charmaine Neville, of the legendary New Orleans musical family, and her band.
Sunday
- Rha Goddess, the Hip-hop “Floetry” artist and playwright, who wove together the stories of our conference in an original piece.
- Special closing session with our Community Committee, building on what we learned and experienced over the course of the conference.
