Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from Judith Freeman, a leader in the fields of new media, field strategy, data and technology, and modeling/targeting.
The field of philanthropy is changing rapidly as new technologies drive how we build the progressive agenda and how we interact with one another. Building networks is an essential part of maximizing our effectiveness. Please join us as we explore making change in a new media landscape.
This series will touch on the democratization of new media, leveraging the power of your network and your message, building relationships, organizing online, and strategizing for real progressive outcomes in the digital field.
*Our Network Committee is proud to offer this training series as a continuation of WDN’s effort to provide concrete tools for members to use in their philanthropy. This training was inspired by the success of past WDN trainings with Network Weaver, June Holley.
See below for more on our terrific speaker and topics.
Trainer/Speaker
Judith Freeman is the co-founder and Executive Director of the New Organizing Institute, a training, research and development organization for technology-enabled organizers, activists, staff, and leaders. Recently, she was on leave from NOI to work for the Obama campaign's new media operation. Previously, she was the senior political strategist at the AFL-CIO, where she also co-founded the Analyst Institute. During the 2004 presidential election, she worked on the Kerry campaign's internet operations.
The Calls:
1) Story
This webinar will explain the differences between the traditional media landscape where power is held by a few, and the new media landscape where influence is truly democratized. We’ll discuss the ways that new media has changed the way that the world consumes information, and the ways that we can leverage those changes to get your message across. In order to cut through the clutter of online space, effective communication is especially important. We will unpack some of the communication techniques necessary for effectively communicating story in the online world.
2) StructureThis webinar will focus on the ways that online tools build relationships between people. We’ll examine various tools including social networking, email, and blogging as a lens through which to understand network theory’s contributions to online organizing. Upon completion, attendees will be ready to create authentic relationships through online technologies.
3) StrategyStrategy is the process by which we leverage our existing resources to build what we need to win. In the online space, it is imperative to build a deliberate strategy that is outcome-based instead of rooted in the most fashionable tool. In this webinar, we will focus on questions that will help you develop an online strategy that capitalizes on the new opportunities that online organizing affords.
