Being first generation American of Haitian descent, Christine’s (she/her) interests in social justice sparked at a young age on a subconscious level during her adolescent years witnessing the impact and effects of systemic and racial inequalities on her family. After reading the Autobiography of Malcolm X. She became inspired about social justice and dived deeper into learning about this topic during high school. 

Throughout her life, she was led to explore the various layers of her identity being the first person to complete college in her family. She wanted to use her experiences and education to break cycles of generational poverty and equality while making an authentic impact in the world. Christine graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and started her career in higher education and later transitioned to aligning with organizations within the nonproft space with shared values. She worked closely with the Executive Director at the Children’s Environmental Health Network where she discovered her interest in the intersection of environmental, racial, and social justice. In 2018, she relocated to Georgia and worked for the Greening Youth Foundation as a Program Manager managing internship and program partnerships with federal land management agencies on a national level. As a diversity, equity, and inclusion advocate and leader, she was able to align young people in underserved communities into leadership roles in the conservation field as well as connect them to the healing aspects of nature. 

Christine joins WDN as the Executive Assistant to Leena Barakat, President & CEO. She brings with her a background in providing high-level administrative support, executive administration, program management, sourcing/recruiting, and strategic workforce planning. She continues to live by example by embodying the change and energy she would like to see in the world. Christine resides in Douglasville, Georgia by way of Massachusetts, where she was born and raised. She enjoys basking in nature, reading, learning, traveling, dancing to her various music playlists, and cultivating a lifestyle of ease and presence through yoga, mindfulness, and meditation.
