Janet Levinger (she/her)

Board Member

Janet Levinger’s (she/her) vision is to create opportunity through engagement, advocacy, and philanthropy. Her focus areas include education, reproductive rights, and civic engagement. Over the past 25 years, Janet has served on nearly 20 nonprofit boards and chaired five of them. In addition to the WDN Board, she currently serves on the Boards of Seattle Foundation and the University of Washington College of Education. Janet writes a blog with the goal of improving board governance – www.LeadingWell.org – Strategies and stories for doing good better.

Janet has an entrepreneurial spirit. She currently is Board Chair for a startup nonprofit ReproHub that supports reproductive empowerment. In 2011, she co-founded Eastside Pathways, a community-wide partnership that creates systems change to improve outcomes for children and youth. In 2002, she co-founded Eastside Preparatory School, an independent school serving children in grades 5 to 12. She and her husband also co-founded a software startup in the 1980s. Janet worked in high-tech marketing for 16 years. She has experience in marketing/communications, fundraising, board governance, and training and development. She has a B.A. in English with honors from Brown University. When not trying to improve the world, Janet likes to travel, cook, garden, hike, and SCUBA dive. She and her husband do distance biking on a tandem. She has two grown children.
