Incoming Board Member
Mary brings thirty-plus years of experience in Human Resources in Educational Publishing and Biotechnology where she focused on organizational development, especially in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion. After retiring, she continued this work by serving on the Boards of an innovative start-up school for girls, and a non-profit that serves low-income first-generation college students (it’s now celebrating fifteen years and serving over 200 students). In June, she completed a decade as a trustee of her alma mater, Manhattanville College, where she championed diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Manhattanville recently was noted as the most successful in its region in the social mobility index.
She joined WDN over a decade ago, was an early participant in WDN’s Peace Circle, and currently participates in WDN’s Participation & Representation for All Impact Collective. She has long supported WDN’s Reflective Democracy Campaign and learned from its data the importance of supporting local races especially women of color Candidates. She is grateful for the role WDN has played in her life in learning how to use philanthropy for social change and how to shift power to women activists leading this change.
Mary lives in the Bay Area and enjoys the outdoors with her family, which now includes two granddaughters. She has recently joined the multitudes playing the fastest-growing sport in the U.S.: pickleball.
